Why is there no blacklist of players?
why isnt there a ongoing list of players that you really shouldnt party with?
like thieves and stuff.
just wondering

Because it's easily abused?
Also, people change. Why penalize someone for making a few bad decisions early in the game?

well thing is i was talking with some of the farmers in toa and in doomlore about this and there are some people that if they have the chance will steal your drop. say you lag and die, they will wait for it to be free then take it. this also used to be a problem in doa with people stealing gems.
oh, and once a thief, always a thief.

Well, that's annoying and rude, but there's no scamming involved. They just used the game's mechanics against you.
Still, too easy to abuse. Put the word out if you see known scammers going LFG, but I don't think an actual blacklist is a good idea.

I don't think so. Many players may do something wrong, early in the game to make a little money, but then later, never even think about it. Does a new player really deserve to be on this so called black list, for not paying a couple hundred gold for a run to Yaks Bend?
Even so, how many players would have to be put onto the list? GW's community is far too big, chances are you would never run into the majority of the people on the list, and even if you did, I doubt you'd be able to remember their name.

My guild used to have and maintaine similar list back in '05 and '06 (list of extremelly bad pug players)
it was kinda pointless as you are totally unlikely to meet such person again, and if you do they would be at different character.
Besides, would you go thought list of hundreds names anytime you are to accept request to join party? Its just unrealisitic. You will never meet that person again, noone will look up his name in balcklist and refuse to trade with him either.

Someone could make a third party device like they use in Warcraft 3 to keep an automated banlist that checks names and auto-kicks. Not really for or against that. Some people wouln't change until they're taught a good lesson. Like that guy in Obsidian armor who scams just to laugh at "noobs" and likes to pull mobs into your group when someone gets a decent gold.
But I know people would be getting banlisted for talking back to the overly demanding group leader or for simple misunderstandings.

Also in a place like this (Guru) no one wants to deal with the laywers and the slander lawsuit.
That's why, black listing a player is serious business and we are serious players.

As well as all the other points that everybody has brought up, the blacklist would quickly fill up with absolute crap. There was a blacklist on another forum I am a member of, and it was almost entirely filled with "such and such bought black dye for 100g". A lot of people don't understand what a scam is, which is why you shouldn't have a public list of people who are "scammers".

This thread's proposal is against this forum site's rules. You're not allowed to blacklist or post another player's IGN without their permission. It's your word against theirs, after all.

Holy smokes Batman! I wish I remembered what my old ranger was called!
Since while doing tombs there was a dude that said I WILL make his guilds list of bad players one should not team with!
And the reason why I made his list:
Because I refused to party with someone whose name was something like "I PWN YA MAMMA".
And I told him that.
And after that all hell broke lose - and that gave me a another REALLY good reason why not to team up with him!

As others have said its to easy to abuse, one ward against another=bad, i would care if some guy was number 1 on the list id still trade with him, and be carful of him like anyone.
Creating it would be more trouble than just being carful in trades or whatever.

Yeah, it was lame, especially contributions by one zealous persona who called anyone not liking jis mesmer noob and added him to list.
But again, those were times of pugs, where frustration was all time high. I guess it helped. Some rage stories were pretty funny too.

Because its basically what we do in real life. Some time ago when about I think 20-30 (can't remember) accused pedophiles were released from prisons around NY state based off of further research/evidence that proved their "innocence", do you really think they were welcomed back into society with open arms?
On a side Note: Good job being a hypocrite Ensoriki, you called him ignorant, but by claiming that anything he says to you is "undesirable" you made yourself in change look ignorant to the fact that some of his statements may be "desirable". In fact you're committing prejudice as well.
